Overview

YouTube Tuner is a browser extension developed by YoSTE Softworks. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data the extension does and does not collect.

Data We Do Not Collect

YouTube Tuner does not collect, transmit, store, or share any personal information. Specifically:

• We do not collect browsing history, YouTube watch history, or search queries.
• We do not collect any information about the videos you watch.
• We do not use analytics, telemetry, or tracking of any kind.
• We do not communicate with any external server operated by YoSTE Softworks.

Data Stored Locally

The extension saves your toggle preferences (mute, auto-dismiss, Shorts redirect, auto-pause) using Chrome's built-in chrome.storage.sync API. This data:

• Consists only of simple on/off values (true/false).
• Is stored locally in your browser and, if you are signed into Chrome, synced across your own devices by Google's infrastructure.
• Is never accessible to YoSTE Softworks or any third party.

Network Requests

When the Shorts publish date feature is active, the extension makes requests to youtube.com to retrieve publish date information for individual Shorts videos. These requests:

• Are made directly to YouTube's own servers, exactly as your browser would when visiting those pages normally.
• Do not pass through any YoSTE Softworks server.
• Do not include any personal identifiers beyond what your browser normally sends to YouTube.

Permissions Justification

• storage: Used solely to save your toggle preferences.
• tabs: Used solely to open the Ko-fi donation page in a new tab when you click the donate button.
• host_permissions (youtube.com): Required to run the extension's content scripts on YouTube pages and to fetch Shorts publish dates.

Third-Party Services

The extension's donate button links to Ko-fi. Clicking it opens Ko-fi in a new tab. Any interaction with Ko-fi is governed by Ko-fi's own privacy policy. YoSTE Softworks has no access to any data from that interaction.

Children's Privacy

YouTube Tuner is not directed at children under the age of 13 and does not knowingly collect any information from children.

Changes to This Policy

If this policy changes materially, the updated version will be published at this URL with a new "Last updated" date.
